![]() First, did your system ship with driver CD's or restore CD's? Do these CD's contain drivers that are accessible? Often, restore CD's contain a software image that's locked down, so you can't extract it's content, which sucks for those of us that don't want to run a bloated factory install. I can't find any specs for this system on the eMachine's website and the specs on the Walmart site are vauge. With boxed desktops and notebooks it's possible that some of the components may not be supported by driver sets for retail devices. That said, you may or may not be able to hack together an XP Pro install. Maybe they could at least provide you with more details specs re: chipset, ethernet, wireless, etc. To be fair, I understand why they only want to support their install. At best, technical support will tell you restore the OS to a factory state. driver downloads are minimal if not non-existent. ![]() It's been my experience that eMachine's support is pretty weak.
